You Don’t Have To Rise To Shine

Spacette’s latest EP, You Don’t Have to Rise to Shine, has a distinctly dreamy vibe, a natural evolution from 2020’s self-titled debut, given the shifts in the world between releases. That first EP was a mix of dystopian themes and sci-fi imagery. New songs such as lead single “Neptune” and the EP’s title track bring Spacette out of isolation and into the natural world—an emergence that elicits a weird mix of excitement and anxiety.

Spacette has songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Heimburger at the helm, backed by the complementary vocals of Ann Louise Thaiss (Honey Whiskey Trio, solo artist). Contributions come from Tony Barbata (drums, John Henry, Sleepy Rubies), Ben Reece (sax, flutes, The Feed, Ben Reece Unity Quartet), Heather Rivas (synths, solo artist) and Breakfast labelmate Miles Bonny (trumpet, solo artist).

Released August 20, 2021
